Zini, me & life in general

Here is Part I….

Amritsar:

My MIL says that Amritsari people are very Chatorey(crudely translated as foodies) types…and as a result there are many places offering mouth watering delicacies like Chaats, Gol Gappe, Chhole-Kulche, Kulfi, Paneer Pakode, Puri-Launji, Jalebi, Rabdi, Lassi, Kaali daal, aam papad….And i proudly announce that i have tried more than 90% items listed here (i too am a big Chatori) πŸ˜€

So days at Amritsar were passed in sampling various food items at home and outside πŸ˜‰ and going to Golden Temple or Harmandir Sahib as it is popularly known…Zini was entertained by My hubby’s Bua, cousin N & neighbours. N, Bua & my in laws would show her horses and other traffic on the GT road,Β neighbouringΒ kids would play with her and thanks to all of them i managed to read a few stories from Chicken soup for indian women’s soul, sleeping & chatting with T bhabhi πŸ™‚

This visit to Golden temple was special as this time Zini was with us. i was a bit worried that she won’t behave & won’t keep her head covered (it’sΒ mandatoryΒ to cover the head there or rather in any Gurudwara). But Zini behaved big time, watched the fishes in the lake, and kept her head covered all the time, though she complained a little about the scarf, but she didn’t get rid of it, the way she normally does!!! I am truly amazed!!!!

And there are so many people thronging the temple, but still it is so clean. Salutes to all the devotees who come there and do the physical work to maintain it. Normally i don’t like to visit the very crowded places of worships, but Golden temple is an exception, i really like going there for the whole experience.

Ludhiana:

This is where my MIL’s brothers live. They live at a farm house!!! And we loved the place πŸ™‚

They have 2 dogs, a biiiiiiig garden & a tube well running water…It was Zini’s paradise, she enjoyed the younger dog, managed to pat him & feed him!!!! Ran madly in the garden chasing sparrows & then sat on Swing to cool off…So basically she enjoyed.

Here Hubby joined us on weekend, and we played a few games of pool (they have a pool table at home!!!!!!!!!!!) along with his cousins A & A. Then in the evening we went for Go karting, followed by gol gappe & dinner (and these 2 were different things πŸ˜‰ )

So, now i am back, but the next trip is already in offing (just in case you want to get moreΒ jealousΒ πŸ˜‰ )

  1. Oh yessss…. Amritsar is meant for chatoris… I love the kulchas and kaali dal combination at a famous shop there in very narrow lanes… I have forgotten the name but the stuff there is to die for. πŸ™‚

And Golden temple is the best place to be in if you are both physically and mentally there… amazing

  2. Wow! You ate so much!!! You are really Chatori πŸ™‚ . All those things had me drooling πŸ™‚ One of my mission when I am in North India is to relish all the food there πŸ™‚ But tell me what is ‘launji’ in puri-launji.
