Fun Day!!

was today!!

We had Zini’s best friend P, from school over at our home!!

She had behaved so nicely during her winter vacation that her mom agreed to her wish of visiting Zini!!

Naah!! I am joking.. Just like Zini the girl was going bonkers at home, hence her mom decided to bring her over so that the girls can fraternize while we at least could catch our breath!!

Yesterday I received a call from R (P’s mother) andshe  asked me if we were equally desperate for some peace… And as such was the case, we fixed the play date for today..

Zini was all excited and declared that she would make a cake for her friend… So we baked an orange chiffon cake yesterday. And today converted it to smiley cake using cream 🙂

We also made french fries and methi na muthiya.. (yeah, i had to give food update 😉 )

Zini went to sleep talking about P and woke up asking when would she come.. Zini’s whole morning was spent waiting for P…

And when P came it was an Awww moment!! Both girls hugged and held hands and Zini led P to her treasure trove of toys…She even granted P an entry in her home (a tent)!! Even we are not allowed in her home 🙄

We took them down in the park, they sang, they ran, they played, they laughed and they cried!! That’s when we decided to bring them back to home and bribe them with the smiley cake!!

Zini’s other friend J and her mom too came home and we had cake!! And then the kids had chocolates brought by R. And they went back to the serious business of playing!!

It’s fun we have our favorite people around no matter what age we are!! And then all days become fun days!!

Your Friend….

Dear Zini,

You have a friend  Y in Ahmedabad. Your friendship started when her mom brought the 5 months old Y out and 6 months old you too were out for breath of fresh air. You met for the first time then.. Her and your grandparents were neighbours.

You both would wake up at night, you both would scream loudly, you both fell ill at same time and you both looked so tiny!! Her mom (K auntie) and I would complain how you both were robing us of our sleep. Then you both grew a little and started crawling all over the place, literally!! So you and Y were seen crawling in the common area on our floor, while both the dadis kept a watchful eye on you. A lot of passer bys would think that you were twins!! You both looked alike!!

Then we shifted to Noida, but you remembered your friend and she remembered you!! A few months later Y visited us with her family at Noida and you both picked up from where you had left. You being generous and sharing your toys was a great sight!! Then we went to Ahmedabad and you both were hardly seen without each other!! Either Y was at our home or you were her place!! You shared toys, food, laugh and sometimes blows 😉 But you loved each other.

When we came back, you made me call her. She went everyday to your grandparents place to search for you and ask them, “Zini kyare aavshe?” (When will Zini come?). When your dadi called us to tell that Y had a freak accident you were worried, you kept asking me when will she be alright.

Last time we visited Ahmedabad, you guys were inseparable. Crying to be with each other when dragged to sleep. Sharing her cycle and riding it turn by turn (sometimes together)!! Eating parathas and bhakharis!! Spilling water in the common area and Making painting using water!! Doing garba to the beat of “Nagade sang dhol baaje”!! Doing “Ringa ringa” and singing ABCD!!! You guys had a lot of fun..

I am writing it here, dear Zini, so that when you both grow up and may forget each other, you will still know that you had a very special friend whom you loved like a sister.

So Who do you like to hang out with?!?!

Surprisingly, this was the question asked to me by my very close friend L recently and it stumped me!!! Though I answered her, saying that I like to hang out with the “Sharif” people like her whom I can spoil and make them “Bigda hua” like me….Which is partly true also, I have managed to turn my good-girl friends a bit bigda hua 😉 …

Generally I am friendly with everybody i meet and can even talk to all kind of  and all aged people.  In school and college i was friendly with lots of people. But lately I have realized that i don’t enjoy talking to everyone the way i used to, though i manage a polite conversation in such a situation, after a point i excuse myself.

But the question really got me thinking…So really what kind of people I like to hang out with? How do i click with my friends? So rather than thinking about the qualities, i thought about my friends…

My hubby who was originally my friend (well still he is my friend 🙂 )…The most striking thing about him (in my view) is his honesty…He can call a spade a spade and speak his mind no matter with whom he is talking to. He doesn’t say things for his personal gain, he says it because that is what he thinks….He is also very open and doesn’t believe in hiding anything. I also enjoy his company because when we are together we have fun. We can have interesting discussions with each other and enjoy each other’s company. Also his feet are firmly on ground (well most of the times)….He supports me and understands me; helps me and motivates me..

Then my friend L, who asked me this question…She is one gem of a person. She is a kind of friend everybody would wish for. She is loyal, will support you no matter what, will gently tell you if you make a mistake but will do so in private, will be there for you not matter what and will listen to all your rants at any time of day/night..Again she is painfully honest and very very kind to everyone around her. She can be crazy at times, she once made me stop my scooty at green signal so that she can give money to the beggar at the traffic light!!! (well, craziness is a side effect of being my friend 😉 ). She never used to eat out, and with me she started eating out every day, so we would gorge on some pani-puris, daabeli, vada-pao and then only go home!!!

My friend from school, N comes across as a very quiet person. She won’t talk with everybody, some may even find her snooty!!! But we enjoy together. I remember once my brother was admitted to hospital right next to her home. So i would go at her home and we would study together and then talk and play. My mom didn’t have to worry about me. Even after we went to different colleges, we continued to meet. I sometimes attended her classes and she would attend my college festival!!! She too is one of those who speaks their mind and she has many a times whacked some much needed sense in my head. My other friends from school P and P are also one of those who speak their mind. With my absent mindedness i would forget a journal or a book at home but they reminded me to carry it. Sometimes they would even help in finishing my journal when i would have forgotten to complete it!! So it was not a very uncommon site when i was seen writing on a page of my journal and P was seen drawing a diagram on the opposite page!!!

Then my friend M from college again is so much like L. She would stretch for friends and support you no matter what. Both of us, after spending the study vacation like holidays, would panic just before the exams and would study together. So she would shift base to my home and we would end up studying day and night. We were like partners in crime, where crimes ranged from gluttony(expected with me involved!!) to playing pranks, from bunking classes to gossiping and from pulling random legs to talking in the class…

One more close friend from college is H. She is one of the coolest people, who championed studies and fashion with equal ease. We would ask her questions ranging from studies to dresses ,  and she would answer all of them with equal ease!!! and my firm belief is that she would have done equally well (or may be better) had she chosen fashion designing as a career…She was one of those sane voice among the madness. Who would draw a time table for M and me so that we study during study leaves, would shout at us for wasting time…And would take out important questions from previous years papers and share them with us, so that we can do well in exams!!!

So, i realized that all my friends are very honest (sometimes painfully honest) with me, they support me in my hour of need and care for me!!! We have fun when we talk and i can talk about anything with them!!! I really feel very lucky to have these amazing people as my friends!!

Some weekends updates…

No that “s” at end of weekend is not typo. I am going to give updates of 3 weekends 🙂

My parents were to visit us from 11th Aug to 17th Aug, but my papa’s leave got cancelled hence they didn’t come 😦

We had made lots of plans and i had dreamt of having Dhokla, Vedhmi, Handvo, Muthiya and what not…But all our plans and dreams were shattered and we were left facing 2 long weekends…

And this is how we made these weekends worthwhile:

Weekend 1:

Zini was not well so we spent most of the time indoors 😦 But as i didn’t have anything else to do, we cleaned up home, yes sparkling clean!!! Hubby was pleasantly surprised when i(!!!!) proposed to clean up and immediately joined me in cleaning by making the kitchen appliances Chamakdaar!!! And i also cooked some all time favourites (Pizza, Bhaji-pao and Chhole -Puri/Kulcha)

Later we went to the newly opened Yamuna Express Way. And it was amazing!!! The 8 lanes concrete road looked oh so sophisticated!!!! And due to monsoon the view from the highway was also great (sorry i don’t have pictures as Zini was sleeepy, we didn’t stop to take pics)

There were lots of people who were having picnic by the roadside!!! Yes, the world class e-way has become picnic spot!!!

Weekend 2:

This weekend should go in history as Zini watched her 1st movie in a theater!!! Yes, we threw caution to wind and went and watched “Ek Tha Tiger” in cinema hall in the 10 pm show!!!

I got so bored and irritated on the 1st day of the 2nd long weekend, so at 7 pm we decided to watch the movie. Hubby immediately booked tickets for 10 pm show, i made some pooris for Zini and Pulao for us and after our dinner we were ready to roll. We made some plans to keep Zini entertained, that involved smuggling Pooris, chips and milk in the cinema hall and me agreeing to buy pop-corn for Zini if she goes out of control!!! We told Zini that we are going to see the big TV and she was pretty excited for that!!! We were also ready for the worst, we planned to get out if she cried too much…

When we reached there, we saw most of the people there had come with little kids, so we braced ourselves to hear lots of crying kids.

But most of the kids behaved big time, including ours!!!

Yes, Zini enjoyed her night out..We had 2 corner seats, so Zini danced whenever a song played, laughed when we laughed, ate pooris, drank milk (i didn’t give her chips) and called out for Chika Chika auntie (Chikni Chameli Auntie) when she disappeared!!! After interval she said “Ghar Chalo” as she was feeling very very sleepy, but finally she managed to sleep in my lap and we managed to watch the whole movie without any breaks with Zini!!! Oh and we had popcorn after Zini slept 🙂

I still can’t believe this!!! But we are already planning to watch another movie 🙂

Then next day saw us hosting our neighbours (P & her family) over lunch and i made

Chhole

Puri

green chutney and

Jalebi

and P brought along

Dahi Wadas

Paalak Paneer and

rice

Yes, we have potluck lunches 🙂 !!!And we enjoyed our lunch over Zini’s antics 🙂

Weekend 3:

This week we gave Zini Flue shots, i mean we took her to doctor for the shot. Before going i told her that she will be getting vaccine for flue, so that she doesn’t get cold and that will be given by an injection. She heard me but was very busy looking outside the car so didn’t give much thought to it. I also told her that after the shots we are going to Mall, so please tell Doctor Auntie to hurry up..

Finally when we reached there she dutifully told the Doctor that we have to go ghumi-ghumi to mall, so please give me shots jaldi-jaldi!!!

When the Doc took out the injection she didn’t cry but hugged me tight, and finally when the doc jabbed her, she gave a loud cry. But managed to calm down before we got out of the cabin and managed to say Bye-Bye to the doctor auntie (a sign that the doctor auntie has not gone in to bad books of Zini, thankfully)….As promised we took her to Mall where she enjoyed a ride..

Next day, we went to my childhood friend N’s place, she stays in Delhi. People used to ask us how we get along so well, while one (that’s me) talks so much and another (N) is so calm and quiet!!! Our answer was that I speak and she listens!!!!

We had originally planned to go along with my parents, but as they didn’t come, we thought at least hubby, Zini and i will go…

She too has a young daughter almost of the same age as Zini, and her 2 nieces were also at her place. All the girls enjoyed big time!!! They had a remote operated car at home and Zini was all the time after N Maasi to drive that car, so wherever N went, Zini followed!!! And when i went to call Zini, she told me “Mummy jaao” and told N “Maasi Chalo”!!!!! Matlbi ladki…..

While Zini was after N for the car, her lovely daughter V was after me for talking tom, she kept telling me “Maasi Jovu che” (Maasi i want to see – talking tom)!!!!

Yeah, so we had a fun weekends…..Hope you guys enjoyed your weekends too 🙂
